LAS VEGAS, Nev. (April 30, 2013) – Nearly 2,000 key stakeholders from mobile payment, e-security, secure ID and card industries gathered at the CARTES America Exhibition and Conference in Las Vegas last week to review and debate technology trends and market deployment strategies for these smart and secure technologies.
“With our industry at the threshold of so many new consumer value applications, from mobile payment to new and more secure ways for consumers to interact with businesses, the need is paramount for a forum like CARTES America where we can debate, and then build a consensus on standards and market direction,” said Steven Singer, global CEO of ABNote. Mr. Singer delivered a keynote address on one of the conference’s major topics, why “EMV by Itself is Not the Holy Grail.”
This year’s exhibition and conference attracted attendees from 55 countries, with 136 technology companies exhibiting, a 30 percent increase from the inaugural CARTES event in the U.S. last year. There were more than 100 presentations at 80 sessions, covering topics from “Mobile Wallet Wars” and “Commerce Convergence Going Mobile,” to “EMV and Security” and “NFC: Not Just for Payments.”
“With the U.S. being a key market for our mobile point of sale solution, it was vital to introduce our technology at the right conference. CARTES America gave us excellent connections with leading banks and telcos from across the globe, and in the U.S. and Latin America in particular,” said Steve Emecz, vice president with MPowa, a mobile payment provider and a first-time CARTES America exhibitor.
Comexposium, the organizers of the CARTES exhibitions and conferences for more than 25 years, announced plans to expand CARTES America in 2014 with the addition of almost 30 percent more exhibition space. “As part of our commitment to expand the content, diversity of attendees and range of technology providers at CARTES America, we’re very pleased to announce that Clarion Events North America will now be our partner in operating and promoting CARTES America in the U.S., Canada and Mexico,” said Isabelle Alfano, event manager for CARTES events worldwide. Clarion Events North America, headed by David Audrain, president and CEO, will provide local client support for North American exhibitors, and will handle both attendee recruitment and professional association relations. CARTES America will continue to benefit from the promotion of the event as part of Comexposium’s global CARTES Network brand.
The 2014 CARTES America exhibition and conference is scheduled for May 13 through 15 at the Mirage Hotel conference center in Las Vegas, Nev.
